Best Bitters Similar in colour and character to ordinary bitters but with more maltness in the body. A strong hop character prevails and fruit flavours may be present. Alcohol 4 to 4.5%.

Strong Bitters are full bodied and distinctively hoppy, maltness is more pronounced than in other bitters and fruitiness maybe medium to strong. Aftertaste may be richly bitter, balancing out the maltness to give a smooth finish. Alcohol 4.5 to 5.5%.

Milds Maybe dark or light, malty and sometimes sweet flavours are present. Hop aroma is light to medium and bitterness typically low. Light milds have a lighty fruit aroma and gentle hoppyness. Dark milds often have a caramel or liqourice character, most noticeable in the stronger brews. Alcohol 3 to 5%.

Golden Ales These pale distinctive and well hopped beers, are relative new comers, they have a biscuity malt flavour often with citrus or peppery hop editions. They are served cool and quenching. Alcohol 3.5 to 5.5%.

Old Ales Are full bodied with a malty richness and complex character, fermentation characters such as fruit flavours contribute considerably. Much variation is found in the style the darker versions having noticeable malt features and strong bitterness. Alcohol 4.5 to 8%.
